Job Description

Kaplan India is hiring talented English lecturers, school teachers and academic question writers to write and edit passages and questions for students preparing for US-based standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, and MCAT. In our quest to prepare our students for the competitive examinations in the US, a large volume of high-quality question items are essential.

The Question Writers will work with the product team -- and a team of other question writers -- to write new questions and to participate in regular performance reviews of existing questions. The candidates must be detail-oriented, be able to draft and edit English writing passages to at least an undergraduate-university level of skill, and should be an effective communicator to work in a fast-paced, remotely-located team.

In your application, please indicate any experience writing or editing standardized question items, along with any familiarity or past test scores from US-based standardized tests. When applying, attach the previous work-sample to your resume (500 - 1000 words). These are distinguishing qualifications for a candidate, but not strictly necessary for those willing to train up.

Requirements

• 3+ years of teaching or question item writing expertise
• Excellent English reading & writing skills
• Distinctly strong attention to detail
• Dependable and clear communicator
• Strong descriptive writing skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate progress regularly
• Knowledge and comfort with modern web collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, Hangouts/Skype, GChat)
• Ability to respond to training and feedback from peers and managers
