Job Description

Position Overview: As an Academic Counselor, your primary responsibility will be to provide guidance and support to Professionals pursuing careers in the healthcare field. You will play a crucial role in helping Professionals make informed academic and career decisions, ensuring their success throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Advising:

• Meet with Professionals individually to assess their academic needs, career goals, and personal challenges.

• Provide guidance on program selection, course registration, and academic planning to ensure Professionals meet program requirements.

• Offer advice on study strategies, time management, and effective learning techniques.
Career Counseling:

• Assist Professionals in identifying and exploring potential healthcare career paths, including nursing, medical assisting, healthcare administration, and more.

• Provide information on job market trends, employment opportunities, and internship or externship placements.

• Help Professionals prepare for interviews, create resumes, and develop job search strategies.
Record Keeping and Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of student interactions, including academic plans, progress reports, and counseling sessions.

• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Educational Resources:

• Stay updated on the latest developments in the healthcare industry and educational requirements.

• Share relevant educational resources and information with Professionals to support their academic and career goals.
Communication and Outreach:

• Organize and conduct informational sessions, workshops, and presentations to educate Professionals about academic and career opportunities.

• Collaborate with other departments and faculty members to enhance the overall student experience.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree may be preferred.

• Knowledge of the healthcare industry, including various career paths and educational requirements will be a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Empathy and the ability to provide emotional support to Professionals.

• Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.

• Familiarity with educational advising software and tools is a plus
