Job Summary: We are looking for an Android cum web developer responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a vast number of Android devices. Your primary focus will be the development of Android applications and their integration with back-end services. Therefore, commitment to sophisticated design and creating quality products is essential.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Experience of working with Web Services, XML, JSON
Have an understanding of how to design different UI for multiple device sizes and resolution.
Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Programming
Knowledge of using Android Studio and Eclipse
Knowledge in Java, JSP and Servlet
Experience with storing data in app using various databases (especially MySQL database)
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Social Informatics Research Group is a multi-disciplinary research group at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta involving academicians, researchers and specialists in the domain of Management, Social Policy, Sociology, Education, Social Work and Computer & Information Science. The objective of Social Informatics Research Group is to develop and evaluate Internet-enabled social media based Social Information Systems, to investigate their applications for societal benefits and to study their possible impact on individual, groups, organizations and society at large using a set of analytic tools.
Internet and Web 2.0-based Social Media is the means of interactions among people, where they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. Social media are fundamentally changing the way we communicate, collaborate, consume, and create. They represent one of the most transformative impacts of information technology on any organization, both within and outside organizational boundaries.
To this end, we are interested in how people interact with social media to further their goals and interests and how social media change and affect people and organizations. Our objectives are to study the formation and linkages of Virtual Communities that have the most positive effect on social capital when they can increase network density and facilitate the spread of information.
