Job Description
Job Summary:
The AV Technician (Audio-Visual) is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio, video, and multimedia equipment used in corporate offices, educational institutions, events, or hospitality environments. This includes sound systems, projectors, video conferencing tools, LED displays, recording equipment, and control panels. The AV Technician ensures that all systems are functioning efficiently before, during, and after meetings, conferences, or live events.
An ideal candidate should have a hands-on understanding of AV hardware and software, with excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset. The role requires flexibility in work hours, a customer-service orientation, and the ability to work independently or as part of a technical support team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AV Equipment Setup and Operation:

Install, test, and operate a variety of audio-visual systems including microphones, speakers, projectors, video conferencing units, and LED walls.

Set up and tear down AV equipment for meetings, training sessions, webinars, conferences, live events, or classroom use.

Operate control consoles for lighting, sound, and video during live sessions or recordings.
2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV equipment, such as sound distortion, image quality problems, or connectivity failures.

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of AV hardware and cabling.

Replace or repair defective components such as wires, fuses, filters, and control panels.
3. Event and Meeting Support:

Coordinate with event organizers, instructors, or management teams to understand AV requirements.

Provide live support during events to ensure smooth audio and visual performance.

Ensure backup systems or alternative solutions are in place for critical events or conferences.
4. Video Conferencing and Streaming:

Set up and support video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco Webex, etc.).

Ensure integration with external devices such as webcams, mics, screens, and speakers.

Monitor internet connectivity and network-related performance issues during virtual meetings or live streams.
5. Cabling and Infrastructure:

Manage AV cabling installation and organization, ensuring safe, clean, and accessible layouts.

Label and document cable runs, ports, and equipment connections for future maintenance or upgrades.

Support structured cabling and data/AV network connections when required.
6. Equipment Inventory and Documentation:

Maintain an inventory of AV equipment and accessories, including microphones, adapters, cables, remotes, and batteries.

Log issues, repairs, service schedules, and equipment loans or movement.

Keep equipment manuals, schematics, and setup diagrams updated and accessible.
7. Software and System Configuration:

Update firmware and software for AV systems and control panels.

Calibrate audio and visual settings to ensure optimal performance in varied environments.

Assist with software integration for digital signage, streaming, and room control systems.
8. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Follow electrical safety protocols and prevent equipment hazards.

Ensure compliance with company policies and industry best practices in AV handling.

Report and mitigate any unsafe conditions or potential technical risks.
