Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, building key customer relationships, and increasing revenue through strategic planning and execution. This role demands a seasoned professional with a strong grasp of sales processes, excellent leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the market and customer behavior.
A successful BDM drives growth by developing strategies to expand the customer base, negotiating large deals, managing accounts, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction and project success. This is a leadership role that combines strategic planning with hands-on sales execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning and Market Research:

Develop and implement strategic business development plans aligned with company goals.

Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, potential clients, competitor activities, and new market opportunities.

Identify and assess business risks and opportunities in existing and new markets.
2. Lead Generation and Client Acquisition:

Identify high-value prospects and develop a robust lead pipeline through various channels – networking, digital platforms, referrals, events, and partnerships.

Qualify leads, conduct prospect meetings, understand client requirements, and present tailored solutions.

Pitch products/services to prospective clients and follow up persistently to convert leads into long-term clients.
3. Sales Management and Revenue Generation:

Own the end-to-end sales process – from lead generation to proposal submission, negotiations, contract closure, and onboarding.

Set sales targets for self and team and work towards achieving them consistently.

Maintain a healthy sales funnel and ensure accurate forecasting of revenue.
4. Client Relationship Management:

Build strong, long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and resolve concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.

Develop client retention strategies and upsell or cross-sell products/services.
5. Team Collaboration and Leadership:

Work closely with marketing, product, operations, and finance teams to align on client requirements and service delivery.

Mentor and support junior sales executives or business development officers (if applicable).

Share market intelligence and client feedback with the internal team for continuous improvement.
6. Reporting and Documentation:

Prepare detailed reports on sales performance, customer interactions, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts.

Use CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot) to manage client information and track progress.

Present business development updates to senior leadership during meetings or reviews.
