Job Description
Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Scrub Nurse provides direct sterile assistance during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role supports safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care by maintaining strict aseptic technique, assisting physicians during procedures, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary cath lab team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field for all cath lab procedures
- Scrub in and assist during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
- Anticipate procedural needs and provide appropriate instruments and devices
- Handle catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, sheaths, and related equipment
- Ensure adherence to infection control and sterile technique standards
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and sterile draping
- Prepare medications and contrast agents per physician order and policy
- Monitor and document supplies, implants, and equipment used
- Collaborate with physicians, circulating nurses, and technologists
- Respond effectively during emergency situations such as STEMI or cardiac arrest
- Assist with specimen handling and labeling as required
- Perform post-procedure duties including room turnover and restocking
- Ensure radiation safety compliance and proper use of protective equipment
- Maintain accurate and timely procedural documentation
Qualifications:
- ANM, GNM, GDA or nursing related education
- MNC registration required
- Cath Lab or critical care experience preferred
- Experience as scrub nurse
