Job Description

A CNC Machine Operator's job is to operate and maintain computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precise parts. They are responsible for setting up, programming, and running the machines, as well as ensuring the quality and safety of the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CNC Machine Setup and Operation

Set up CNC machines (milling, lathe, or other) by installing and adjusting tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to specifications.
Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting, milling, and turning, ensuring precision in parts.
Load and unload materials from machines and inspect parts for quality.

2. Blueprint and Technical Drawing Interpretation

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand part dimensions, tolerances, and machine setups.
Ensure proper machine setup to meet the exact requirements outlined in the technical documentation.

3. Quality Control and Inspection

Monitor the CNC machine during operation to ensure correct operation and quality output.
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to correct any discrepancies or defects.

4. Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Perform regular maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and checking for wear and tear.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues and report major issues to maintenance technicians.

5. Efficiency and Safety

Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
Maintain cleanliness in the work area and follow procedures to minimize machine downtime.
Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and productivity targets while maintaining high-quality standards.

6. Documentation and Reporting

Record production data, such as machine settings, output quantities, and time logs, for reporting and tracking purposes.
Document any changes made to machine settings and maintain an accurate log of maintenance activities.
