Job Description
Desktop Support Engineer Roles and Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot operating systems such as Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Install and support business applications like Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, VPN, and antivirus software.
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including RAM, hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and monitors.
Troubleshoot software-related problems and perform software updates.
Provide first-level and second-level technical support to users through phone, email, chat, or in person.
Configure and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet access.
Create and manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions using Active Directory.
Install and configure printers and resolve printing issues.
Maintain IT asset inventory and track hardware/software licenses.
Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
Monitor system performance and apply security patches and updates.
Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions using ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
Escalate complex technical issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.
Ensure compliance with IT security policies and data protection standards.
Assist in setting up workstations for new employees and decommission systems for exiting employees.
Support video conferencing systems and collaboration tools.
Provide end-user training on basic IT applications and security best practices.
