Desktop Support Engineer
Job Description
Key Roles and Responsibilities
-
Provide first-level support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues.

Troubleshoot hardware problems (e.g., printer, monitor, keyboard, etc.).

Address software issues including operating systems, productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office), and company-specific applications.

Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
-
Set up software, drivers, and necessary updates.
-
Configure network settings and connect users to network resources (Wi-Fi, VPN, shared drives).
-
Create, modify, and delete user accounts in Active Directory.
-
Reset passwords, manage access rights, and enforce security policies.
-
Perform regular system updates and patches.
-
Ensure antivirus and security tools are up to date.
-
Monitor system performance and optimize where necessary.
-
Maintain inventory of hardware and software assets.
-
Track asset assignments and manage lifecycle (procurement to disposal).
-
Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs and knowledge base articles.
-
Record issues and resolutions in a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).
-
Respond promptly to service requests and incidents.
-
Communicate clearly with users to understand their problems and provide effective solutions.

Provide user training and guidance on best practices.

Work with IT teams (network, server, security) to resolve complex issues.

Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support or vendors when necessary.
-
Use remote desktop tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues off-site.
-
Support remote employees with connectivity, VPN access, and application issues.
-
Ensure adherence to company IT policies and security standards.
-
Help enforce data protection measures and ensure proper access control.
