Job Description
IIT Indore invites applications from outstanding researchers for DST-INSPIRE/Ramanujan Faculty Fellowship
positions in the Discipline of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science & Engineering (DAASE).
Following areas : 1) Any areas of Astronomy and Astrophysics (including Theory, Computation and Observations) across different wavelengths including Radio, Optical, UV, IR, X-ray and Gamma rays.
2) Instrumentation related to Astronomy and Space Engineering
3) Gravitational Wave Astronomy, Exoplanets and Planetary Sciences 4) Synthetic Aperture RADAR, Hyper-spectral Remote Sensing
5) RADAR and GNSS in Atmospheric Sciences and Ionospheric Studies 6) Machine Learning, Statistics, Big Data and Algorithm development in Astronomy and Space Sciences Outstanding candidates with other than above listed expertise are also welcome to apply.
Our faculty members are actively involved in international research collaborations in SKA(Square Kilometre Array), PLUTO code and Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC). Our faculty members and students are extensively using national/ international facilities like the ASTROSAT, LOFAR, uGMRT, VLA, ATCA, SWIFT, NuStar, NICER, XMM-Newton, Chandra X-ray Observatory and look ahead for active involvement in upcoming projects like Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), EUCLID and Aditya-L1 mission.
The department offers the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees as well as a minor in Astronomy supporting a dynamic and rapidly growing community interested in Space Research and Applications. The research activities and experimental facilities have been well supported by various extramural research and infrastructure grants both by National and International funding agencies. Candidates must have a PhD degree in any branch of science and engineering or related areas with outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability to conduct independent and successful research in their respective areas of expertise and to build interdisciplinary research programs.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to engage in a high quality undergraduate and graduate education in areas related to Astronomy and Space Engineering. Fellows can supervise research students (BTech/ MTech/ MSc/ PhD). Successful candidates are expected to participate in expanding the current academic program of DAASE both at post-graduate as well as undergraduate level. Applicant/s are also encouraged to visit the Discipline at a mutually convenient time for interacting with faculty members.
