Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instrumentation & Control System Design:
-
Design and develop control systems including sensor integration, signal conditioning, and instrumentation architecture.
-
Select appropriate instruments such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, and analyzers.
-
Create detailed engineering drawings, instrument datasheets, P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), and loop diagrams.
2. Installation, Testing & Commissioning:
-
Oversee or perform the installation of instrumentation and control systems at plants or sites.
-
Calibrate instruments using industry-standard calibration equipment.
-
Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests to ensure functional integrity of systems.
-
Troubleshoot issues during testing and resolve faults in field instruments or control loops.
3. PLC/SCADA Programming and Automation:
-
Develop and modify control logic for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
-
Integrate HMI (Human Machine Interface) for process visualization.
-
Collaborate with software engineers and electrical teams to ensure seamless control system integration.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
-
Perform regular preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation systems and control equipment.

Analyze system malfunctions and repair or replace faulty components.
-
Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, calibration logs, and performance metrics.
5. Compliance and Safety:
-
Ensure all instruments and systems comply with industry standards, company SOPs, and statutory regulations (like ISO, IEC, ATEX, etc.).
-
Follow electrical safety protocols and ensure instrument grounding and shielding as per guidelines.
-
Support HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and audit readiness related to instrumentation.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
-
Prepare and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, test protocols, and operational procedures.
-
Generate technical reports for instrumentation performance, calibration data, and fault logs.
-
Support the procurement process by creating material requisitions and evaluating vendor quotations.
7. Coordination and Team Support:
-
Work closely with project engineers, technicians, maintenance teams, and vendors to complete project deliverables on time.
-
Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers or technicians.
-
Participate in site meetings and provide feedback on instrumentation performance improvements.
