Fashion Design Intern
Job Description
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of embroidery and textiles, fashion design and fitting skills, and experience in the fashion industry or be a recent graduate. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Concept Development

Assist in the creation of mood boards, color palettes, and inspiration research for upcoming collections.

Participate in brainstorming sessions for new designs, trends, and seasonal themes.

Contribute original design ideas under the guidance of the senior design team.
2. Sketching and Illustrations
-
Create hand-drawn or digital fashion illustrations and technical flat sketches using tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or Procreate.

Modify or update existing designs and flats as directed by the team.

Assist in preparing visual presentations for internal reviews or client meetings.
3. Fabric and Trim Sourcing

Assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, buttons, zippers, and accessories from local vendors or catalogs.

Help organize swatches and maintain a fabric library with updated material specs.

Coordinate with vendors or suppliers to request samples or quotes.
4. Sample Development

Work with pattern makers, tailors, and production teams to support the creation of design samples.

Attend sample development sessions and fittings to observe and assist with adjustments.

Document feedback during sample reviews and help track changes.
5. Technical and Production Support

Prepare tech packs and design specification sheets under supervision.

Organize and file measurements, patterns, and garment details for production use.

Coordinate with the production team for sample pickup, handover, or quality checks.
6. Fashion Shows and Photo Shoots

Support preparation for lookbooks, catalogs, exhibitions, or fashion shows.

Assist with model dressing, steaming garments, organizing accessories, and backstage tasks during shoots or events.

Help document photos, behind-the-scenes clips, or social media content.
7. Market and Trend Research

Conduct market research on fashion trends, color forecasts, fabric innovations, and competitor analysis.

Monitor fashion weeks, social media influencers, and retail trends for inspiration.

Present insights to the design team to support design decisions.
8. Inventory and Studio Management

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the design studio, fabric shelves, and accessory bins.

Assist in inventory of sample garments, trims, and fabrics.

Handle errands or studio tasks such as purchasing tools, couriering samples, or maintaining basic records.
