Job Description

Study fashion trends and anticipate designs that will appeal to consumers based on description provided.
Attend fashion shows and review garment magazines and manuals in order to gather information about fashion trends and consumer preferences
Decide on a theme for a collection
Adapt other designers' ideas for the mass market
Use photoshop or illustrator to create designs & flats
Provide target sheets along with sketch & order slips to the Sampling team.Sketch rough and detailed drawings of apparel or accessories, and write specifications such as color schemes, construction, material types, and accessory requirements.
Source fabric samples from all possible locations personally and create swatch file for the seasons.
Select fabrics, embellishments, colors, or style for each garment or accessory keeping the pricing & other factors in mind.
Test fabrics or oversee testing so that garment care labels can be created
Maintain Swatch files for each season for reference and update it weekly.
Work with other team members to create a prototype design
Design custom clothing and accessories for individuals, retailers, or theatrical, television, or film productions
Maintain Daily Sampling tracker with details of the Sampling team work & progress.
Assist with Pattern modifications in order to increases production.
Present design ideas to the creative director
Oversee the final production of their designs
All samples will be required to pass Quality checks by the designer before being submitted to Inventory team.
Coordinate with Other departments and maintain inventory sheets on a weekly basis and submit to management.
Provide sample garments to agents and sales representatives, and arrange for showings of sample garments at sales meetings or fashion shows.
