Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Commissioning

Install fire protection systems and components, including sprinklers, fire pumps, hydrants, hose reels, fire extinguishers, and gas suppression systems (e.g., FM200, CO₂).

Assist in the commissioning and testing of new systems to ensure they meet design specifications and regulatory standards.

Work from construction drawings, system layouts, and manufacturer specifications.
2. Preventive Maintenance and Inspection

Conduct regular preventive maintenance on all fire protection equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.

Inspect and test fire pumps, sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, fire alarm panels, control valves, and gas suppression units according to maintenance schedules.

Check pressure gauges, flow switches, alarm outputs, and battery systems to confirm proper operation.

Document inspection results and report any discrepancies or required corrective actions.
3. Troubleshooting and Repairs
-
Diagnose malfunctions in fire suppression and detection systems and perform timely repairs or replacements of defective parts.

Respond to emergency maintenance calls and fix faults in critical fire safety equipment to ensure continuous protection.

Calibrate and adjust system components to maintain operational accuracy.
4. Compliance and Safety Standards

Ensure all fire protection systems comply with local fire codes, building regulations, NFPA standards, and manufacturer guidelines.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance, inspections, tests, and repairs.

Assist during fire audits, inspections, and drills by authorities or third-party safety consultants.

Provide support during emergency evacuation drills and fire response training sessions.
5. Inventory and Equipment Handling

Maintain inventory levels of fire safety equipment and spare parts such as nozzles, hoses, valves, and detectors.

Ensure tools and testing devices are calibrated and maintained in good working condition.

Safely handle pressurized equipment, gas canisters, and electrical panels associated with fire systems.
6. Collaboration and Reporting

Coordinate with other departments, facility maintenance teams, and contractors for integrated safety system work.

Report to supervisors regarding the status of systems, urgent repair needs, and system upgrades.

Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
