Visvesvaraya Ph.D Fellowships of DeitY conducts Gauhati University
Department : Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY)
Eligibility: a. For Computer Science/Information Technology: Master Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications/Computer Engineering b. For Instrumentation: M.Sc. in Instrumentation c. For ECT: Master Degree in Electronics Science/Electronics and Communication Technology/Microeletronics & Advanced Communication. d. For ECE: Master Degree in Electronics Science/Engineering/Technology / Electronics and Communication Engineering/Technology / Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
The fellowships are for Full Time research in the areas of ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing), IT (Information Technology)/ITES (IT Enable Services).
The fellowship amount at present is Rs.22500.00 per month for the 1st & 2nd Years, and Rs. 25000.00 per month for the 3rd, 4th & 5th Years.
Numbers of Fellowships in different departments are i. Computer Science-2; ii. Electronics and Communication Entgineering-1; iii. Electronics and Communication Technology-1; iv. Instrumentation-1; v. Information Technology-1.

Gauhati University was established by an act of the State Legislature, namely, the Gauhati University Act 1947 (Assam Act, XVI of 1947), of the Government of Assam in the year 1948. The University is funded by the University Grants Commission and the Government of Assam. Besides, various agencies of the Central and State Government provide various grants and assistance for Research and other Academic activities. The University is in its 58th year existence, and is the oldest, largest, and the most premier seat of higher education in the entire North Eastern Region of India.
