Job Description
Observing patients’ behavior, reactions, and appearance to assess their overall health
Performing diagnostic tests such as blood tests, electrocardiograms (EKGs), urinalysis, or spinal taps to detect signs of disease or infection
Providing direct patient care including administering medication, changing bandages, dressing wounds, or other basic nursing tasks
Interpreting findings from tests to determine next steps in treatment plans, which may involve communicating with physicians or other healthcare professionals
Administering treatment such as physical therapy or occupational therapy to patients who have been injured or are ill and cannot care for themselves
Performing surgery such as removing tumors or repairing broken bones using specialized equipment such as an X-ray machine or an operating room table
Recording patient data in medical records for future reference
Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures such as administering anesthesia before surgery
Educating patients about their conditions and treatment plans
