Job Description
SENIOR PROJECT ASSOCIATE – National position
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is currently seeking applications from Indian nationals for the position of ‘Senior Project Associate’ to carry out research work on the “Development of lateral flow device for rapid detection of aflatoxin B1 in animal feed/feed raw materials that are the principal source of aflatoxin M1 in milk, a Group I carcinogen” under Cluster- Crop Protection and Seed Health, Global Research Program- Accelerated Crop Improvement.
Responsibilities:

Conduct initial research to standardize the antibody and its suitability and sensitivity in lateral flow device (LFD)
Standardize sample extraction method for animal feeds that is suitable for LFD
Produce LFD prototype
Evaluate animal feed samples to validate LFD
Overall development of LFD for aflatoxin B1 detection
Reporting and maintaining accurate and high-quality data files required to prepare a project report
Qualifications and Experience:
Post Graduate degree with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. in Immunochemistry/ Immunology or Biochemistry;
Experience in immunology especially focusing on developing lateral flow immunoassays is desirable;
Additional skills: Previous experience in developing immune assays and lateral flow immunoassays will be added advantage;
Technical Competencies/ Key Skills:
Technical competencies to work on immune assays and lateral flow immune assays with special focus on mycotoxins such as aflatoxins, fumonisins, ochratoxins, etc.
Proficiency in wet-lab biochemistry.
Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken).
Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural teams.
Ability to deal tactfully under pressure situations, deliver under tight schedules, and maintain high degree of confidentiality.
Multi-language competency will be an added advantage.
Additional / Preferred Skills:
Support the scientist in writing the technical report.
Responsible for timely completing the assigned activities.
Sound knowledge of mycotoxin and/or aflatoxin extraction methods.
Coordinate with other staff members for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of lab equipment as necessary.
