Essential Qualifications & Experience: Applicants with essential qualification(s) and mandatory experience can apply for the above mentioned one (1) position of Technical Officer (Scale-I) post. B.Tech. / B.E./ M.Sc. or an equivalent degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunication or appropriate discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant experience of six years after the qualifying degree, out of which three years should be at Level 7 (44900-142400) or one year should be at level 8 (47600-152200) or equivalent, with demonstrated expert-level practical knowledge of design and management of computer networking and IT services, including conceiving and executing medium to large scale projects OR M.Tech / M.E with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant experience of four years after the degree. (For applicants with Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline, duration of Ph.D. up to three years will be counted towards experience..)
Desirable Profile: Six years of work experience in senior leadership/ architect role in computer networking or IT services with strong technical skills in open source technologies, designing and managing campus wide wired / wireless technologies, centralised IT services and data centre that serve greater than ten thousand users. The incumbent is expected to join as a team member with a focus on Fedora Linux and BSD UNIX administration, data center networking, rack servers, and storage hardware and planning of different aspects of IIT Bombay’s open source-based IT infrastructure. The applicant must have hands-on experience in the following broad areas: 1. Should be well versed in opensource firewall like IPTABLES, IP6TABLES, and IPSETs etc. 2. Should be well versed in data backup tools like Amanda, Bacula, BORG, Tar/CPIO etc. 3. Experience in planning and configuration of IT infrastructure monitoring tools like Zabbix, Observium, MRTG, Nagios, NetDisco, or SNMP based monitoring tools. 4. Extensive knowledge in planning and configuring of openLDAP, Oauth2, Radius, Mailman, djbdns, forward and reverse proxy, Postfix, Qmail, NFS, NIS, DHCP, PXE, Layer2 and Layer3 based VPN etc. 5. Extensive knowledge in planning and configuring of Vlaning, routing, policy based routing, Stacking over fiber, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RIPv1, v2 for core networking switches or DMZ network. 6. Computer and Network systems administration on desktops as well as routers, switches, servers having various and multiple operating systems including open-source operating systems and software. 7. LAN Routing and Switching design, configuration and troubleshooting (VLANs, IP Subnetting, 802.1Q trunks). 8. Planning, design, configure, implement, monitor and troubleshoot wireless APs, wireless controllers, and wireless management systems. 9. Extensive knowledge in planning and configuring of KVM based virtulization, LXC and Docker containers using virtual environment management tools like Kubernetes, Proxmox, Cloudstack, OVirt. 10. Should be extremely well versed in planning and configuration of SAN, NAS devices, lun mapping and zoning, Distributed storage systems like CEPH, DRBD, Glusterfs and cloud storage systems like Owncloud and Nextcloud. 11. Knowledge of programming in PHP, Python, Go Land, shell scripting also capable of handling message queuing protocols like AMPQ, MQTT and Custom Linux kernel patching and compilation. 12. Knowledge of automation in deployments, provisioning, and configuration using tools like Ansible. 13. Knowledge of Planning and implementation of H.323 and SIP-based video conferencing gateways. Hands-on experience of handling video/audio conferencing equipment’s will have added advantage. 14. Knowledge of IoT and hand-on experience on the use of Raspberry Pi and Arduino boards and different sensors. 15. Good communication, documentation, and workflow management skills. Knowledge of government purchase process will be desirable. 16. Expected to contribute to all aspects of IT related projects of IIT Bombay and also to handle end•users. 17. Designing and implementation of campus wide wired and wireless technologies. the incumbent should have hands on experience on CISCO, EXTREME, HP, D-link and ARUBA networking devices.
