Job Description
Job Summary:
An Insurance Advisor is a licensed professional responsible for helping individuals and businesses choose suitable insurance policies to protect against financial risks. This role involves understanding the client’s personal or business needs, recommending appropriate insurance products (life, health, motor, property, etc.), and ensuring long-term client engagement through personalized service and follow-ups.
An ideal candidate for this role is persuasive, customer-focused, and knowledgeable about various insurance products and policies. The Insurance Advisor acts as a trusted consultant, guiding clients in making informed decisions about their financial protection and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Acquisition and Relationship Building:

Identify potential clients through cold calling, networking, referrals, field visits, or digital outreach.

Conduct meetings with individuals, families, or businesses to understand their insurance needs and financial goals.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients to ensure policy renewals, upgrades, and referrals.
2. Product Recommendation and Policy Customization:

Assess client requirements in areas such as life insurance, term plans, health insurance, retirement planning, motor insurance, home insurance, etc.

Recommend suitable insurance plans based on client risk profiles, financial situations, and future objectives.

Explain policy features, premium structures, maturity benefits, exclusions, and claim procedures clearly.
3. Sales and Target Achievement:

Achieve assigned monthly and annual sales targets through consistent efforts.

Promote both individual and group insurance products, depending on market demand.

Participate in sales drives, awareness campaigns, and promotional activities organized by the company or insurance provider.
4. Documentation and Compliance:

Assist clients in completing policy application forms, KYC documents, and medical formalities.

Ensure all paperwork is submitted accurately and within stipulated time frames.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to IRDAI guidelines, ethical sales practices, and company compliance policies.
5. After-Sales Service and Policy Management:

Provide regular policy updates, reminders for premium due dates, and policy renewals.

Support clients during the claim process by guiding them through documentation and coordination with the claims team.

Offer services such as policy reviews, beneficiary updates, and financial reassessment.
6. Market Knowledge and Product Updates:

Stay up to date with new insurance products, regulatory changes, underwriting norms, and competitor offerings.

Attend training sessions, workshops, and product launches organized by the insurance company or distributor.

Educate clients on insurance awareness, tax benefits under Section 80C/80D, and long-term financial planning.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical/Product Knowledge:

Basic understanding of insurance types: Life, Term, Health, ULIP, Motor, General, Travel, etc.

Familiarity with insurance terms: premiums, sum assured, maturity, exclusions, riders, claims

Knowledge of insurance regulations and IRDAI standards
