Job Description

An ISP Engineer, specifically in the intercity domain, is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of Airtel's network infrastructure, focusing on transmission equipment and related technologies. This role involves handling network alarms, resolving customer-reported issues, and coordinating with various teams to ensure network uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Responsible for the maintenance of transmission equipment, attending to alarms, and taking routine backups of equipment. This includes fault analysis of different multiplexers, remote terminals (RTs), and other network elements.
Alarm Handling:
Managing alarms generated by the Network Management System (NMS) and Element Management System (EMS).
Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving customer-reported issues, including voice and number complaints, and coordinating with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Transmission teams for quick resolution.
Coordination:
Interacting with customer care, the NOC, and the Transmission team to minimize network downtime.
Network Optimization:
Working on both project and Operation & Maintenance projects, including fiber rectification using OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer).
Vendor Management:
Managing multiple contractors, sub-contractors, and other operators.
Documentation:
Maintaining comprehensive documentation of transport network configurations and procedures.
Process Implementation:
Implementing and enforcing security measures to protect the network and ensure high uptime.
Teamwork:
Building, training, and retaining a highly skilled and motivated team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of ISP network architecture, including core, aggregation, and access rings.
Equipment Knowledge: Experience with various transmission equipment, such as multiplexers, RTs, and other network elements.
Troubleshooting Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting customer-reported issues and network alarms.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with various stakeholders.
Vendor Management: Experience managing contractors and other operators.
Experience: Typically requires 3-8 years of relevant experience.
