Job Description
A Hardware Technician supports lab/bench hardware by assembling and maintaining test setups, performing soldering and rework, and preparing cable harnesses (cut/strip/crimp, pin insertion, continuity checks) as per drawings and pinouts. The role also includes basic electrical validation using test instruments, troubleshooting hardware issues, documenting work, and coordinating with engineers to keep systems reliable and ready for testing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assemble, wire, and maintain lab/bench setups (power supplies, loads, fixtures, connectors, and basic instrumentation).
• Perform soldering, de-soldering, and rework for bench wiring, connectors, and simple PCB/connector repairs.
• Prepare and modify cable harnesses as per drawings/pinouts (cut/strip/crimp, pin insertion, lacing/labeling, continuity checks).
• Carry out basic electrical checks using DMM/continuity tester (polarity, shorts/opens, grounding, and insulation where applicable).
• Support ECU flashing/connection readiness and assist engineers during testing by swapping units, cables, and fixtures.
• Identify and troubleshoot common bench issues (loose connections, damaged cables, blown fuses, unstable power) and escalate with clear observations.
• Maintain lab organization and consumables (tools, spares, connectors, wires) and ensure 5S/cleanliness of benches.
• Document work performed (harness build details, rework notes, bench changes) and update trackers/checklists as required.
• Follow ESD and electrical safety practices, handle equipment and test articles as per lab SOPs.
Required Skills
• Knowledge of EE Lab Equipment like – Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Electronic Load etc.
• Should be good in Soldering and De-Soldering skills.
• Should have knowledge of IPC Standards for PCBA & Cable Harness along with ESD compliance.
• Should posses’ good knowledge of using the documentation tools like Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
• Knowledge of calibration and the calibration standards are required.
Key Strengths:
• Strong hardware debugging and analytical skills.
• Experience working with real ECU environments.
• Ability to handle bench setup, Design, integration, and troubleshooting independently.
