Lecturer recruitment in Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, Shrivihar, Puri
Qualification: i. Good academic record with at least 55% of marks ( or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed ) at the Masters degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University . ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET for the respective subjects. iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in (i) and (ii) candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree through a process of admission, registration, course work and external evaluation as laid down in the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 and so adopted by the university, shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Lecturer. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted. Provided further the award of degree to candidates registered for the M.Phil / Ph.D programme prior to 11.07.2009 shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing ordinances / Bylaws/ Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and the Ph.D candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Lecturer in University subject to the fulfillment of following conditions . a. Ph.D degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only. b. Evaluation of the Ph.D thesis by at least two external Examiners. c. Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D work out of which one must be in a refereed journal. d. Open Ph.D Viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted . e. Candidate has made at least two presentations in Conferences / Seminars, based on his/her Ph.D work . All these conditions are to be certified by the Vice Chancellor / Pro- Vice Chancellor / Dean (Academic affairs )/ Dean (University instructions ) . iv.A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and masters Level for the SC / ST / Differently- abled (Physically and visually differently- abled) / Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non creamy layer) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic records during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The Eligibility marks of 55% of marks ( or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible , based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D degree holders, who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.

Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya , named after the premier Deity of the eastern region Lord Jagannath , is the third sanskit university of the country next to Sampurnananda Sanskrit University of Benaras and Kameswar Singh Sanskrit University of Darabhanga . The Vishvavidyalaya office started functioning on 14th August 1981 in the annexe to the Raj Bhaban , Puri with its founder Kulapati Prof. Prahallad Pradhan and founder kulasachiva Prof. Trilochan Mishra with establishment of the Vishvavidyalaya , provision was made through an ordinance for the appointment of the university statutory bodies , such as Adhisad (Syndicate) , the Samsad (Senate) and the Vidya Parishad (Academic Council) through the nomination by the Kuladhipati (Chancellor) . The first Adhisad had 12 members , the first Samsad has 62 members and the first Vidya PArisad had 40 members . Post Graudate classes in six departments , namely Sahitya , Vyakarana , Dharmashastra , Sarvdarshan , Nyaya and Advaita Vedanta were inaugurated in rented building with 12 rooms .
