A Mechanical Design Engineer in the wastewater treatment field is responsible for designing, detailing, and optimizing mechanical systems, equipment, and components used in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) or effluent treatment plants (ETPs). This includes pumps, piping layouts, clarifiers, aeration systems, sludge handling equipment, and the mechanical structures
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft mechanical systems, equipment, and piping layouts.
- Select and size pumps, blowers, and other equipment.
- Prepare P&IDs, technical specs, and BOQs.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment details and compliance.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning at site.
- Ensure designs meet standards, safety, and client requirements.
- Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–5 years of experience in water/wastewater, process plants, or EPC projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting/design software
- Knowledge of pumps, blowers, piping, valves, and other treatment plant components
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Willingness to travel for site visits and project execution
