Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Draftsman or Mechanical Designer to join our engineering design team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting or design, preferably within the crane manufacturing, lifting equipment, or heavy engineering industry. You will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, preparing technical documentation, and supporting engineering teams in the development and improvement of products and components.
Candidates with prior experience in overhead cranes, jib cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, or similar mechanical systems will be given priority consideration. There is no salary barrier for the right candidate with the desired experience, skillset, and dedication.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Drafting:

Prepare detailed 2D fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and 3D CAD models of mechanical components, structures, and crane assemblies.

Work on structural designs including girders, end carriages, wire rope hoists, trolleys, and other sub-assemblies related to cranes.

Ensure all designs comply with industry standards (e.g., IS, DIN, FEM) and customer specifications.

Create BOMs (Bill of Materials) and ensure accurate specifications for procurement and production.
2. Technical Documentation:

Maintain and update technical drawings, design documentation, and drawing registers.

Prepare GA (General Arrangement) drawings, manufacturing drawings, and installation diagrams for clients and internal use.

Assist in creating load charts, dimension tables, and technical data sheets for customer submissions.

Support the generation of installation and maintenance manuals, as required.
3. Design Collaboration & Coordination:

Work closely with the mechanical engineers, production teams, and project managers to translate conceptual designs into manufacturable drawings.

Interact with vendors and procurement teams to ensure feasibility of fabricated parts and bought-out components.

Participate in design reviews and provide input on functionality, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
4. Software & Tool Usage:

Use CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) for mechanical modeling and drawing preparation.

Work with PDM or document management systems to organize and control drawing versions.

Use Excel or ERP systems to update and track BOMs and part specifications.
5. Quality Assurance & Standards Compliance:

Review and verify drawings before release to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards.

Incorporate changes from design revisions, client feedback, or site measurements.

Follow standard drafting and dimensioning practices (e.g., GD&T).

Understand and apply relevant safety and mechanical engineering codes.
Required Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design / Drafting Technology or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or mechanical design.

Hands-on experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD (2D), SolidWorks, Creo, or similar.

Ability to read, understand, and create mechanical and structural engineering drawings.

Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes (e.g., welding, machining, assembly).

Knowledge of steel structure fabrication and handling equipment like cranes, hoists, or conveyors.

Good written and verbal communication skills.
