Job Description
Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development: Lead the mechanical design of new and existing data center cooling products (e.g., CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, air handlers, dry coolers, liquid cooling plates).SolidWorks Expertise: Create complex 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and configurations using SolidWorks. Manage large assembly structures and Bills of Materials (BOMs).Sheet Metal Design: Design intricate sheet metal enclosures, frames, brackets, and ductwork with a strong understanding of manufacturability (DFM), bend deductions, and tolerances.HVAC System Integration: Design and integrate HVAC components, including coils, fans, blowers, compressors, pumps, filters, and refrigerant piping.Thermal & Structural Analysis: Perform basic hand calculations and work with analysis teams for FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to validate thermal performance, structural integrity, and airflow.Prototyping & Testing: Support the build and testing of prototypes. Analyze test data, identify issues, and implement effective design changes and solutions.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Procurement, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure designs are optimized for cost, quality, and assembly.Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, test reports, and design review presentations.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for product cost-down, performance enhancement, and standardization. Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering.Industry Experience: Proven experience with HVAC and cooling products is essential. Direct experience with data center cooling equipment is a significant plus.Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks (including Sheet Metal, Weldments, Surfacing, and PDM). Technical Expertise:In-depth knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, welding), and GD&T.Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.Familiarity with HVAC components and system design.Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and effective communication skills for collaborating in a team environment.Job Particulars
