Job Description
Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities:
Leads the efforts regarding the design and development of engine ducts, lines, valves, actuators, and other ancillary hardware to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely support.
Ensures that the engine ducts, lines, valves, actuators, and other ancillary hardware are properly designed, integrated, analyzed, and verified to meet the element requirements.
Qualifications:
A degree in Engineering or a related field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum of 14 years of experience, a master's with at least 18 years of experience, or a BS with at least 20 years of experience.
The following skills/experience are required:
Knowledge of complex liquid engine systems, and life cycle end-to-end development, ranging from requirements development to hardware integration.
Experience developing and delivering executive-level briefings, negotiation skills demonstrated through technical problem solving, and demonstrated ability to break down problems or issues into manageable pieces.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills.
Self-motivated, effective team player, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment.
The following skills/experience are highly desired:
Experience in design, development, testing, and evaluation of liquid engine systems.
Experience with the current SLS program and a working understanding of the SLS vehicle and interfaces.
