Job Description
An NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of new products from design to mass production. This includes managing the entire process, from initial concept to final product release, focusing on manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Leading and coordinating all activities related to NPI, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA):
- Reviewing product designs to ensure they are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
- Manufacturing Process Development:
- Creating and documenting manufacturing processes, including work instructions, for both new and existing products.
- Testing and Validation:
- Developing and executing test plans, validating new products and processes, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Supplier Management:
- Working with suppliers to ensure they meet the necessary quality and production requirements.
- Documentation:
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all NPI activities, including product specifications, process plans, and test procedures.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the NPI process, working with cross-functional teams to find solutions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identifying opportunities to improve the NPI process and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Knowledge Transfer:
- Sharing technical knowledge and best practices with other teams, including manufacturing and support teams.
- Collaboration:
- Working closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and other teams to ensure successful product launches.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), SMT (Surface Mount Technology), and other relevant technologies.
- Experience with DFM, DFA, and other design for excellence methodologies.
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in relevant tools and technologies, such as CAD/CAM software and test equipment.
- Knowledge of quality standards and procedures.
In addition to these core responsibilities, an Airtel NPI Engineer may also be involved in:
- Cost Reduction:
- Identifying opportunities to reduce product costs through process optimization and material selection.
- New Technology Implementation:
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to improve manufacturing processes and product performance.
- Customer Support:
- Providing technical support to customers during product trials and initial deployments.
