Job Description
- Perform vision tests and analyse results
- Diagnose sight problems, such as near-sightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases, such as glaucoma
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids, and if state law permits, medications
- Perform minor and major surgical procedures to correct or treat visual or eye health issues
- Provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
- Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery—for example, examining a patient's eyes the day after surgery
- Evaluate patients for the presence of other diseases and conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension, and refer patients to other healthcare providers as needed
- Promote eye and general health by counselling patients.

The Ayodhya Eye Hospital was started under the patronage of Mani Mandir Sewa Nyas Samiti and support of Sightsavers International, UK in 2002.
Patients are examined using state-of-art ophthalmic equipments that help in conducting a complete eye examination. Visual acuity, Slit lamp examination, NCT, Indirect and direct ophthalmoscopy are conducted routinely for all patients. A skilled team of eight qualified doctors perform cataract (Phaco & SICS Procedures), glaucoma, retinal surgeries, squint, corneal, oculoplasty, trauma and minor surgeries, which with excellent success rate.
The OT is equipped with six Operating Microscope including one Visu 160, three Phaco machines (Infinity, Millennium with Vitrectomy & one Appa for training purpose) & a GA machine. Since establishment of this hospital, it has examined 5.3 lacks patients & performed 86,087 surgeries
