Job Description
A Picker/Packer is a physical, fast-paced warehouse role responsible for fulfilling customer orders. They locate and gather specific items from inventory (picking) and securely package them for safe transit (packing). This role is vital for maintaining supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Core Responsibilities
Order Picking: Pull items from warehouse shelves or bins based on automated lists, order slips, or handheld scanners.
Quality Control: Inspect merchandise for damage or missing parts prior to boxing.
Packaging: Select appropriate shipping materials (boxes, bubble wrap, poly bags) to prevent items from breaking during transit.
Labeling: Weigh packages, print accurate shipping labels, and seal boxes for dispatch.
Inventory & Stocking: Track inventory levels, report shortages, and help restock warehouse shelves.
Safety & Maintenance: Operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks or forklifts if certified) and adhere strictly to OSHA/workplace safety guidelines. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Skills & Requirements
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy loads (often 20 to 50 lbs) for long hours.
Attention to Detail: High accuracy in reading order slips and picking the correct products/quantities.
Time Management: Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet daily dispatch quotas.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally preferred, but relevant warehouse experience is often more critica
