Job Description
Job Summary:
A Production and Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations and ensuring that all products meet the required quality standards and specifications. This dual-function role combines production planning, process optimization, and supervision with quality control, inspections, and compliance assurance.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, technical expertise in manufacturing processes, and a passion for maintaining high-quality output. This role is critical to ensuring product reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Supervision
-
Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to meet output targets and timelines.

Allocate manpower, machinery, and materials efficiently for optimal production.

Monitor machine performance and coordinate with maintenance teams to avoid downtime.
-
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations on the shop floor.
2. Process Improvement
-
Analyze production processes to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
-
Implement lean manufacturing techniques, 5S, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives.
-
Assist in the development and refinement of work instructions, process maps, and production documentation.
-
Reduce wastage, optimize cycle time, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
3. Quality Assurance & Control
-
Conduct in-process quality checks and final product inspections.
-
Ensure that products meet internal standards and external regulatory or customer requirements.
-
Investigate non-conformities and assist in root cause analysis (RCA).
-
Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
4. Documentation & Reporting
-
Maintain detailed production and quality records, including checklists, inspection reports, rejection logs, and production reports.

Create or update control plans, quality procedures, and process documentation.

Report daily production status, quality metrics, and equipment performance to management.
5. Quality Testing
-
Operate and interpret data from testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, hardness testers).
-
Perform visual and dimensional inspections using specified instruments.
-
Support internal audits and prepare for external audits (ISO, customer audits, etc.).
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
-
Coordinate with design, R&D, procurement, and dispatch teams for smooth operations.

Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality of incoming materials (IQC – Incoming Quality Control).

Support customer service and technical teams with product quality feedback and issue resolution.
7. Training & Compliance
-
Train machine operators and floor staff on quality standards, SOPs, and safety protocols.

Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, TS 16949, or industry-specific guidelines.

Promote a quality-first mindset among production staff.
Key Skills and Competencies:

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and production planning

Familiarity with quality control tools (e.g., Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, FMEA, SPC, Control Charts)

Hands-on experience with inspection and measurement instruments

Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and production tracking tools

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good communication and documentation abilities

Ability to handle shop-floor pressures and multitask efficiently
