Scraping Engineer Role (Bengaluru, India)

Role Details

• We are building one of the world’s largest database of product and pricing information. We ingest tons of data from a variety of sources (crawling, api, customer dumps), all running in a continuous, distributed data pipeline.

• We're looking for someone who wants to own the data extraction piece, scale it up and make it faster, stronger, and bigger.

• You will become a grand wizard of PCRE

• You will be part of our Customer Operations team, which monitors data quality and handles the delivery of reports and datasets to customers.

• You will create metrics to track data correctness, freshness etc. and work with data engineers to resolve concerns.

• You will monitor essential graphs and dashboard, and provide feedback to your team where necessary.

• You will handle ad-hoc tasks required to meet customer requirements on short notice.

Skills Required

• Fresh CS college grads are welcome!

• You have a full stack developer background - know HTML, CSS, JSON, AJAX and Javascript

• You know how a web crawler and scraping works (+1 if you can whip a basic one in your favorite language and/or experience with frameworks like Scrapy)

• Good understanding of the DOM. How to demonstrate this: Explain how a HTML parser works (+1 if you can write a basic HTML parser)

• You can dream in regular expressions, particularly the PCRE variant. (+1 if you know how to wield XPaths)

• You have knowledge of a scripting language - Python, Node.js, Perl, etc. (+1 if it’s Perl)

• Excellent organizational and communication skills
