Position Summary: Siemens EDA is looking for a smart, driven, and problem solving individual experienced in working with Siemens EDA Xpedition tool suite to develop interactive and engaging learning solutions to support the goals of the Learning Services organization. Senior Instructional Designer and Trainers develop and deliver training to customers, partners, and employees in several learning formats.
These formats typically include on-demand/self-paced, virtual, classroom and custom onsite training classes. In addition to becoming an advanced user on the functionality of EDA products, Instructions Designers assist in learning related activities such as product testing, and curriculum development. The primary objective is to professionally develop and deliver quality training sessions that increase customer knowledge and drive product adoption. Essential Duties: Provides high quality product training to Siemens customers, business partners, and employees in person or online using approved training curriculum, student materials, instructor tools, presentation tools, and other documentation. Develops a thorough understanding of new and existing Siemens EDA PCB tool suites products to develop and deliver training. Has advanced subject matter knowledge in one Xpedition and EDM product area(s) and can become an advanced user in other product areas. Utilizes quality control measures such as student evaluations, and/or feedback to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and professionalism of teaching presentations. The Senior Instructional Designer/Trainer job responsibilities will be focused on curriculum development based on release schedules, priorities, resources, or other requirements as well course delivery. The amount of time on development vs. delivery will be driven by customer demand. Creates or participates in the development of prototypes and templates for new learning products; supports Siemens EDA Learning Services instructional design standards and training industry best practices. Updates learning products with information about new features and functionality based on approved release and development schedules. Takes on technology-based activities related to development of learning products such as backing up source files, maintaining network classroom environments, maintaining department websites, and/or maintaining classroom and other equipment as needed Participates in software implementations/adoptions; provides customized consultation and training for customers as needed. Researches, recommends, develops, and trains on new Siemens EDA tools to ensure learning products keep pace with industry trends and future learner needs. Conducts evaluations of presenters providing written feedback and suggestions for improvement. Serves as resources to other presenters who need assistance or advice about curriculum development, instructional design, and/or presentation techniques and is instrumental in establishing new standards, templates, and methodologies for learning. Oversees beta test activities and special projects for Siemens EDA Learning Services as needed. Demonstrates and models leadership qualities for all Learning Services personnel.
Education and Experience: BS EE or BS ME or equivalent work experience in relevant product area. 5+ years of experience in PCB Design, using, supporting, selling, or marketing the product area. Developing and/or delivering training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is highly recommended. Strong knowledge of learning theory and experience in technical training development, preferably in a technical environment is a plus. Prior customer facing experience required Prior experience with Xpedition and EDM a plus. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to gain strong knowledge of existing and new Siemens EDA products is required. Ability to determine appropriateness of training materials for multiple learner audiences based on learner skill level and learning style is required. Experience with presenting to an audience and good presentation skills. Must possess excellent customer-focused writing and editing skills. Ability to learn, teach, and effectively use writing/authoring tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Camtasia, or comparable development tools is required. This position is required to solve complex problems and has wide latitude for independent judgment. Must have the ability to plan and independently execute work with minimal supervision. Must have demonstrated ability to work exceptionally well in cross-functional team environment, works collaboratively and effectively within a team; this position has recurring contact with Senior-level internal and external contacts, and may serve as the primary spokesperson on significant matters. Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to multiple conflicting priorities, manage changing priorities and respond to unexpected changes. Must possess acceptable time management communications, inter-personal, verbal, listening, problem solving, and troubleshooting, decision-making and organizational skills.
