Job Description
Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and detail-oriented Shift Engineer to manage operations, maintenance, and technical support during assigned shifts. The Shift Engineer will ensure smooth functioning of machinery, utilities, production equipment, and facilities. This role is ideal for someone who can handle breakdowns, troubleshoot technical issues, monitor plant performance, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Shift Management

Supervise day-to-day operations during the assigned shift.

Monitor production schedules and ensure timely task completion.

Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, and resources.

Coordinate with other departments for smooth workflow.
2. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
-
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of machines and systems.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.

Ensure equipment is running efficiently and meets quality standards.

Maintain records of all breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
3. Safety, Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

Follow quality control measures to maintain product standards.

Report any accidents, near-misses, or hazardous situations immediately.
4. Team Coordination & Supervision
-
Guide and supervise technicians, operators, and junior engineers.

Provide on-the-job training and ensure adherence to work instructions.

Maintain effective communication between shifts for smooth handovers.
5. Reporting & Documentation
-
Maintain daily shift reports including machine performance, production data, and manpower deployment.

Document breakdowns, downtime, and maintenance activities.

Share reports with higher management for review and planning.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
-
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or relevant field
Experience
-
0 – 3+ years of experience in maintenance, production, or plant operations
-
Freshers with good technical knowledge may apply for trainee roles
Skills & Competencies
-
Strong technical knowledge of machinery, production systems, and utilities
-
Hands-on experience in preventive and corrective maintenance
-
Knowledge of PLC systems, automation, and instrumentation (preferred)

Good analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to lead teams and coordinate across departments

Familiarity with safety standards and quality protocols

Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
