Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Formwork Construction:
-
Construct shuttering (formwork) for various concrete structures such as foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, and retaining walls.
-
Measure and mark cutting lines on wood and other materials using measuring tools like tapes, squares, and levels.
-
Cut, shape, and assemble timber and plywood panels for molds according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
-
Build and erect steel or aluminum formwork when required, especially for repetitive or large-scale structures.
2. Installation and Assembly:
-
Fix shuttering in position using nails, screws, bolts, clamps, and supports to ensure tight, leak-proof molds.

Secure formwork to scaffolding, steel bars, or ground for stability during concrete pouring.

Align forms properly to ensure dimensions and levels are accurate based on the technical drawings.
3. Dismantling and Maintenance:
-
Remove shuttering (formwork) after the concrete has set, following safety and curing guidelines.
-
Clean, repair, and store reusable formwork panels for future use.

Maintain tools and formwork components in good condition.
4. Safety and Site Protocols:
-
Follow all site safety rules and regulations.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmet, safety shoes, and harnesses.

Report unsafe conditions, broken tools, or incidents immediately to supervisors.
5. Collaboration and Supervision:
-
Work closely with steel fixers, masons, and concrete workers to ensure timely progress.

Follow instructions from the civil engineer, foreman, or supervisor on site.

Assist junior carpenters or helpers as required.
