Solar Engineer
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Commissioning:
-
Plan and execute the installation of rooftop solar PV systems as per approved designs and client requirements.
-
Install and commission solar string inverters, ensuring proper wiring, configuration, and communication with monitoring systems.
-
Set up and interconnect DCDB (Direct Current Distribution Boards) and ACDB (Alternating Current Distribution Boards) in compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.

Perform electrical connections between PV modules, inverters, junction boxes, DC and AC panels, and utility grid or loads.

Ensure proper earthing and lightning protection systems are installed according to national and international electrical standards.

Conduct insulation resistance, earth resistance, and continuity testing during commissioning.
2. System Testing & Validation:

Conduct pre-commissioning checks including polarity testing, open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Isc), and IV curve tracing.

Perform commissioning procedures including grid synchronization, inverter configuration, and performance testing.

Validate the entire system for electrical safety and operational reliability before handing over to the client.

Maintain documentation of testing results and as-built drawings.
3. Operation & Maintenance (O&M):
-
Monitor the daily performance of solar PV plants using remote monitoring systems and physical inspections.

Carry out regular preventive maintenance of inverters, panels, DCDB, ACDB, and other system components.

Diagnose faults in solar power systems including inverter errors, low generation issues, and string-level failures.
-
Replace or repair defective components such as fuses, SPD (Surge Protection Devices), breakers, and MC4 connectors.

Clean and maintain PV modules regularly to ensure maximum efficiency and performance.

Maintain O&M logs, service reports, and warranty claims documentation.
4. Project Execution & Site Management:
-
Assist in site surveys, feasibility studies, and shadow analysis for new projects.

Coordinate with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.

Supervise field technicians and subcontractors during installation and maintenance activities.
-
Adhere to project timelines and ensure that installations are completed within budget.
-
Conduct site safety assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards at all times.
5. Client Interaction & Reporting:
-
Provide technical support and training to clients regarding the operation and basic troubleshooting of solar systems.
-
Prepare and submit site reports, commissioning certificates, maintenance reports, and incident reports as needed.

Ensure clear communication with clients on system health, generation trends, and performance metrics.
