Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Support:

Assist the lead special educator in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and learning goals.

Support students during academic instruction across subjects like language, math, and life skills.

Help adapt learning materials to meet each student’s ability and needs.
-
Use teaching aids, visual tools, and assistive technologies to enhance learning engagement.
2. One-on-One and Group Activities:
-
Work with students individually or in small groups to provide targeted intervention.
-
Reinforce concepts taught during class through repetition, practice activities, and visual strategies.
-
Help manage transitions between classroom activities and provide support during therapy sessions, sports, or arts-based programs.

Encourage social interaction and communication among peers through guided group work.
3. Classroom and Behavior Management:
-
Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Observe and record behavioral patterns under guidance for analysis and intervention planning.

Help implement behavior modification techniques and reinforcement strategies.
-
Use positive communication and calming techniques with students showing behavioral challenges.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
-
Maintain daily observation logs, activity sheets, or student progress updates as per the supervising teacher’s direction.

Provide input for IEP meetings or parent-teacher conferences if requested.

Assist in preparing progress charts, worksheets, visual schedules, and activity reports.
5. Collaboration and Teamwork:
-
Participate in team meetings, workshops, and case discussions with therapists, counselors, and educators.

Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and psychologists during co-therapy sessions.
-
Communicate with other staff members and parents with respect and professionalism.
6. Learning and Development:
-
Actively engage in training, shadowing sessions, and feedback meetings.

Stay updated on basic special education principles, inclusive teaching methods, and child psychology.

Reflect on daily experiences to improve practice and deepen understanding of special education.
