Job Description
Provide direct patient care in accordance with the nursing care plan and physician instructions.

Monitor, assess, and record patient condition, vital signs, and progress.

Administer medications, IVs, and other prescribed treatments accurately and safely.

Assist in diagnostic tests and communicate results with the clinical team.

Prepare patients for procedures, explain treatment plans, and provide emotional support.

Maintain accurate documentation and nursing records in compliance with hospital standards.

Coordinate with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.

Ensure infection control practices and hygiene standards are strictly followed.

Participate in emergency response duties and assist in critical care when necessary.

Educate patients and their families about health conditions, medications, and post-hospital care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care & Monitoring:
-
Monitor and assess patients’ conditions regularly, including vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.

Provide bedside nursing care, including bathing, dressing wounds, catheter care, and mobility assistance.

Observe patients’ reactions to medications or treatments and report any unusual symptoms or responses.
2. Medication Administration:
-
Administer prescribed medications via oral, intramuscular, intravenous, or subcutaneous routes.

Maintain accurate medication records and dosage timings.
-
Monitor for side effects or allergic reactions and respond appropriately.
3. Assistance During Procedures:
-
Assist doctors during clinical procedures, minor surgeries, and patient examinations.

Prepare patients and medical equipment for surgeries, diagnostic tests, or treatments.

Ensure sterile techniques and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
4. Patient Documentation & Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing notes, care plans, and medical charts.

Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress clearly and promptly.

Update records electronically or in registers as per hospital policy.
5. Communication & Patient Education:
-
Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.

Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and relatives.

Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, and administrative staff regarding patient care.
6. Emergency Care & First Aid:
-
Respond quickly and calmly to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, trauma, or patient collapse.

Perform CPR and first aid as required and follow emergency protocols.

Assist in transferring patients to ICU or critical care units if needed.
7. Infection Control & Hygiene:
-
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the ward or department.

Follow standard precautions and personal protective measures.

Properly dispose of bio-medical waste according to hospital guidelines.
8. Equipment Handling:

Operate medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, IV pumps, suction machines, ECG machines, etc.

Check the functionality of equipment before and after use.

Report any malfunctioning equipment to the biomedical or maintenance department.
