Job Description
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum [6] years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis.
Proficiency with structural design software and CAD tools.
Strong understanding of building materials, structural systems, and construction techniques.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of local and international building codes and standards.
Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Key Responsibilities:

Structural Design and Analysis:
-
Design structural components and systems using materials such as concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and composites.

Perform detailed load and stress analysis to ensure that structures can safely support and resist the applied forces.

Develop structural models using software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD Pro, or Revit Structure.

Incorporate safety, usability, and environmental considerations into all design processes.

Project Planning and Coordination:

Work closely with architects to ensure structural elements support architectural vision without compromising safety.

Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate building systems effectively.

Participate in early-stage feasibility studies, including site investigations and material assessments.

Assist in preparing project schedules, design deliverables, and construction documentation.

Documentation and Compliance:

Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural elements and systems.

Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and legal regulations (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocodes).

Submit documentation for review by regulatory authorities and assist with obtaining permits.

Construction Support and Site Supervision:

Provide technical guidance during the construction phase to ensure the structure is built according to design.

Perform on-site inspections and review the quality of materials and workmanship.

Address design-related queries and make on-the-spot decisions to resolve construction issues.

Monitor structural behavior during and after construction, and conduct structural health assessments when required.

Structural Integrity Assessment:

Evaluate existing structures for safety, usability, and compliance.

Recommend retrofitting or strengthening solutions for aging or damaged structures.

Analyze causes of structural failures and prepare reports with findings and corrective measures.

Material and Sustainability Considerations:

Select appropriate construction materials considering cost, durability, environmental impact, and load-bearing capacity.

Advocate for sustainable design practices, including the use of recyclable materials and energy-efficient construction techniques.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

Present technical information and design concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.

Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to discuss project status, timelines, and challenges.

Maintain strong professional relationships with all project participants to ensure effective collaboration.
