Project for a new Army Public School was conceived by GOC Delhi Area in 1995 in view of the increasing demand of the Army Personnel posted in / around Delhi. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) released 14 acre of Defence Land for the school project in Area of Vasant Range called Mahipal Pur. Later the complex was named as Shankar Vihar. The foundation stone of the school was laid on 17 August 2005 by Adjutant General Lt General Mohinder Singh. PVSM, UYSM, AVSM. The construction commenced in full gusto and took two years and six months for completion.
