National Initiative on Undergraduate Science (NIUS) PHYSICS programme Announcement for 17th Batch (2020 – 2021)
NIUS (Physics) programme is designed to provide extended nurture and guidance to undergraduate students in Physics. In this programme students attend nurture camps organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) TIFR, Mumbai, and work on proto-research student projects during their vacations over a period of about two years (June 2020 – December 2021)
Applicants should have at least 60% marks or equivalent grades in Class X and Class XII examinations.
Applications are invited for NIUS (PHYSICS) programme for 17th batch (2020 – 2021) from FIRST YEAR UNDERGRADUATE students who are pursuing any of the following degree i) 3 year B.Sc./B.Sc.(H) with Physics as one of the subject, ii) 4 year B.S./B. Tech./B.E. in Physics/Applied Physics/ Engineering Physics, iii) 5 year M.S./M. Sc. (Integrated) with Physics as one of the subject and iv) 4 or 5 year B.Tech./B.E. any branch of Engineering/Technology (with a strong interest in Physics).
Applicants should have at least 60% marks or equivalent grades in Class X and Class XII examinations.
The first camp will be held at HBCSE, Mumbai from June 3 to June 19, 2020.
This camp will be an exposure and enrichment camp where leading scientists will offer short courses on core topics in physics. There will also be a laboratory course based on “Experimental Problem Solving” approach. In addition, there will be project related enrichment lectures. The students selected at the end of the first camp will carry out project work under the supervision of the mentor during the subsequent camps.
