Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care Management:
-
Provide round-the-clock medical care to patients admitted in the ward.

Monitor patient condition and progress, assess needs, and adjust treatment plans as required.

Perform medical procedures such as wound care, IV insertion, and other patient interventions under the guidance of senior physicians.

Ensure proper patient assessment on admission, ongoing monitoring, and timely discharge processes.

Clinical Support and Supervision:
-
Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute patient care plans.
-
Support consultants and senior medical staff in diagnosis, treatment planning, and decision-making.
-
Assist in performing medical procedures and interventions, providing hands-on support during surgeries or other medical treatments as required.

Document patient conditions, treatment plans, and responses to therapy accurately in the hospital’s system.

Medical Rounds and Assessments:
-
Conduct daily rounds of patients in the ward to monitor their progress and report findings to the attending physician.
-
Update patient charts and medical records regularly and ensure all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date.

Take histories, perform physical examinations, and discuss patient conditions with senior consultants and specialists.

Ensure appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures are requested and followed up on.

Emergency and Critical Care Support:

Provide immediate medical intervention in emergency situations within the ward.

Respond to patient deterioration or medical emergencies and take necessary action, including calling for appropriate assistance.

Stabilize patients before transferring them to the appropriate unit or department when necessary.

Patient Education and Counseling:

Provide information to patients and their families about medical conditions, treatments, and post-care instructions.

Ensure that patients are aware of their treatment options and are involved in decisions about their care.

Address patient concerns and provide reassurance and emotional support as needed.

Collaboration with Healthcare Team:

Coordinate with nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other allied health staff to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and modify care plans as necessary.

Ensure clear communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status, treatment protocols, and any concerns.

Administrative Duties:

Ensure the timely completion of medical forms, reports, and other administrative documentation as required by hospital policy.

Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and ethical medical practices.

Participate in quality assurance and clinical audits as part of ongoing efforts to improve patient care.

Training and Professional Development:

Stay updated on the latest medical research, techniques, and treatments relevant to your field of practice.

Participate in hospital training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Provide mentorship and support to junior medical staff, medical students, or interns as needed.
