Description:

Wildlife Institute of India is seeking summer interns to work in UNDP- WII Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) Project from 15 June-15 August 2016.BIOFIN project is a global initiative being run in 30 countries across the globe including India. It aims to estimate the funding gap for biodiversity conservation in India. BIOFIN India is led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The initiative is hosted by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), working with two State Biodiversity Boards, with technical assistance from Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy

Interns will support the activities of the WII BIOFIN core team in collection of the necessary data for assessment of programs/schemes of central and state government relevant for biodiversity conservation as per BIOFIN workbook. They will also be encouraged to provide their inputs and creative skills for the preparation of various communication tools and products for biodiversity awareness across different sectors. 

Primary duties will involve collection of budgetary data and information of selected government schemes, help in compilation of existing innovative mechanism for biodiversity finance using desk research and meetings with the selected government department of Uttarakahand state. 

Interns will receive a stipend to cover their living cost in Dehradun. Work related travels will be covered by the project. No housing is available within the institute and interns are expected to arrange their own accommodation. 

Education: University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in Life sciences, Environmental Sciences, Economics or any other similar field.

Preferred Qualifications: Good Computer & Communication Skills.Knowledge of using Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi.
