Job Description
- Airline customer service agents commonly work at airline ticket counters and boarding gates. They act as an airline's boarding agents, swiftly and efficiently boarding and then deplaning passengers to keep an airline's flights on time.
- Experienced CSAs are assigned to airline luggage offices as well as cargo operations, locating lost passenger luggage and keeping cargo flowing smoothly.
- In good flying weather, CSAs are almost an afterthought for an airline's passengers.
- However, when an airline experiences flight cancellations due to inclement weather or aircraft mechanical issues, a CSA's job can become hectic.
- Airline CSAs must be able to multitask effectively.
- They might be charged with finding accommodations, meals and transportation for passengers of canceled flights and then rebooking them for new flights.
- Airline CSAs should be skilled in dealing with distressed or irate customers.
- During heavy travel periods, they must be available to work mandatory overtime.
