Job Description
Job Summary:
An Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components in industrial, commercial, or residential environments. This role requires a strong knowledge of electrical theory, safety protocols, and troubleshooting methods to ensure the efficient and safe operation of electrical systems.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical maintenance, strong problem-solving skills, and an understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations. The Electrical Technician will ensure that all electrical systems and equipment are operating efficiently, minimizing downtime and preventing potential electrical hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Installation and Maintenance:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, lighting systems, and other electrical components in buildings, machinery, and equipment.

Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure proper functioning.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in a timely manner to minimize system downtime.
2. Circuit Troubleshooting and Repair:

Use electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and circuit testers to diagnose electrical problems.

Identify faulty components or circuits and replace or repair them according to safety standards and technical specifications.

Work with both low and high-voltage systems, ensuring all repairs meet safety codes.
3. Preventive Maintenance:

Follow a scheduled maintenance plan for electrical systems, ensuring that all equipment and systems are serviced regularly.

Perform routine checks on electrical panels, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers to ensure they are functioning properly.

Clean, lubricate, and replace parts as needed to extend the lifespan of electrical components and systems.
4. System Upgrades and Modifications:

Assist in upgrading or modifying electrical systems to meet the changing needs of the facility or building.

Replace outdated equipment with modern, energy-efficient systems to reduce energy consumption.

Collaborate with engineers to implement system improvements or expansions.
5. Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to safety standards and local electrical codes during installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.

Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other workplace safety standards.

Identify and correct any safety hazards related to electrical systems, such as exposed wires or faulty grounding.

Keep records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for audit and compliance purposes.
6. Customer Interaction and Documentation:

Provide technical support and advice to clients, operators, or maintenance teams regarding electrical systems.

Maintain accurate and detailed reports of electrical work performed, including time spent, materials used, and any recommendations for future actions.

Communicate effectively with supervisors or clients about the status of electrical systems, repairs, and any issues that need attention.
7. Collaboration and Teamwork:

Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and maintenance teams to address complex electrical issues.

Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for system improvements or troubleshooting strategies.

Train junior technicians or apprentices in proper electrical practices and safety procedures.
