Job Description
1. Post: Scientific Officer – Groundnut Breeding
a. ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic Indian Nationals for the position of ‘Scientific Officer — Groundnut Breeding’ in Crop Improvement, Asia Program at ICRISAT-Patancheru. The position is responsible for supporting the conductance of groundnut yield trials, assist in groundnut breeding activities, data collection, uploading on BMS data management system, and data analysis, and preparation of project reports under the supervision and guidance of Principal Scientist-Groundnut Breeding, Asia.
2. Responsibilities:
a. Conducting groundnut yield trials of the groundnut breeding program. Conducting hybridization and generation advancement of groundnut breeding program.
b. Data collection, uploading on BMS data management system and data analysis. Assist in implementing genomics assisted breeding program.
c. Assist in selection of breeding materials, seed production and constitution of trials for multi-location testing. Assist in monitoring of project trials and strategic trials at out-station locations
d. Arrange supply seed material selected and requested by the collaborators from across various locations. Assist in annual work plan development and preparation of mid-term and annual reports of projects
e. Ensure execution of groundnut breeding experiments as per the agreed plans and schedules. Assist in identifying and resolving the issues in the development of new groundnut breeding lines
3. Requirements:
a. M.Sc. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from a reputed university with sound academic record
b. 5-10 years of work experience in one or more areas of crop breeding, yield trailing and seed production
c. Sound knowledge of computer programs and MS Excel
d. Knowledge in data management systems and/or software for data analysis
e. Ability to work with other disciplinary team members
f. Good communication skills
